God's work on "The Lady at Subway"

Well, the other day I had the opportunity to go back to visit with the lady at Subway. I told her that I wanted to follow-up and see how things are going for her, and make sure that she acknowledged God's work in getting her electricity back on. She said, "It has been remarkable to see, through this whole thing, how faithful God is to me, even when I have not been faithful to Him." She went on to say, "I had the opportunity to talk to Joe on the phone- he's such a nice man." I agreed with her, but trying to get the conversation back on task, I said "Yet much more important than God meeting your need of electricity, God has a much greater need that He wants to meet in your life". She replied, "Oh yes I know, I've already gone to church a couple of times since this whole thing has happened; I mean, I was brought up in church and all, and have attended on and off in my adult years." I told her, "That's great to hear." Unfortunately I was side tracked from where I was going with the conversation, and she finished by saying, "Look you ought to stick around and have lunch." But I told her that I already had plans for lunch, though I would come back sometime in the future (I thought that would give me another opportunity to follow-up on her again). So I left; but while driving up 1st Ave, headed back to the church, God burdened my heart so much about how I had allowed her to side track me and that I didn't accomplish what I truly went there to accomplish. So, I was compelled to turn around and go back to finish our conversation. Now keep in mind that by this time I am arguing with God about what this woman is going to think if I come back and start up a conversation with her again. But setting aside my pride and doing what's right (no matter what), God won and I conceded. When I went back in to the store, she gave me a funny look, as though to say, "did you forget something?" I said, "You know, I failed to ask you a question that I had planned to ask, so I came back with the intent of posing my question." She said, "What's the question?" "I was wanting to know if you have ever come to the point in your life where you understood your need to give your life to Jesus" I asked. "Oh yes" she said, "about every other week I give my life to Jesus." She went on to say, "I've been raised as a General Baptist, so I understand how important it is to be saved."
I ask for you to continue praying for the lady at Subway, because it will be a journey that I will have to take with her, to help her understand what salvation is and what it is not. See the General Baptist doctrine believe that salvation is not eternal. In other words, if you sin and Jesus comes back before YOU confess that sin and get saved again (which means that man must DO something in order to be saved, other than trusting in what God has already DONE), then you will go to hell; it truly is a tangled web.
Before I left she said she might come to Mill Road and check us out. So pray, pray, pray.

The right place often seems like the wrong place

God is in the business of strategically positioning us in the right place at the right time. A sense of destiny is our birthright as followers of Christ. God is awfully good at getting us where He wants us to go. But here's the catch: The right place often seems like the wrong place, and the right time often seems like the wrong time.
If we will depend on God for EVERYTHING, not just in theory but in reality, then we would be more settled about the place and time that God so chooses. When we look at God for who He really is, rather than reducing God down to the size of our biggest problem. Rather than seeing God and His power from our own human limitations, we should see that His ways are MUCH HIGHER than our ways. When we take for granted that our heart is going to beat one more time or our lungs are going to draw in oxygen, then we fall in danger of losing sight of our dependency on Christ. God operates in a whole different dimension than we do, and he wants us to trust Him in everything, especially in the relatively small things that we already expect will happen, in order that we can trust Him in the big things of life. If you will be in a continual attitude of prayer (dependency), then you will have established a strength in your dependency on God where nothing will shake your world.

The man at life's rock bottom

Praise God for the opportunity to speak life into a man that has apparently crashed against the shape jagged rock bottoms of life. He has nearly lost everything, including his will to live. A satanic attach has been called out in full force to destroy this man, as he has dangled at the finger tips of demonic influence. Yet as a blood bought Saint of God, life and hope is found in the Living Word of God when it says, "Greater is He who is in you, than he that is in the world." I reminded him that a follower of Jesus Christ must first have a true understanding of who God really is. See, Satan has destorted the mind of man about who God truly is. Satan's first attempt started back in the garden by telling Eve that God was holding out on her and that He really didn't have her best in mind. Nothing has changed today; Satan still tells man that God really doesn't care, and if He did then He wouldn't let so much bad stuff happen to us.

The real problem is that Satan is a liar and the truth is not in him, and you must be out of your mind stupid to listen to him. As far as the big picture is concerned, look at what Satan's fate is and then reason with perceptive insight of who really cares about you. Satan "has come to kill, steal and destroy you," but Jesus "has come to give you life and that more abundantly."

Life is enjoyed through the understanding that God is not a big bully in the ski with a baseball bat waiting to wack you with it. Though He is a righteous and holy God who must punish sin, but for the born-again believer, that punishment has been paid on the cross of Calvary by Jesus, on our behalf. So look to Jesus, not as an addition to your life (like a coin in your pocket to spend when needed) but rather as the very purpose for living life.

We closed our time together with a Spirit-filled prayer for God's protective care to surround him and that God's Spirit would break this yoke of bondage that Satan has tried to smuther him with.

Please pray for "the man at life's rock bottom."
